Although the Danish capital is already vibrant, thanks to its famous colorful houses and sought-after style, the city gets even brighter when Copenhagen Fashion Week returns.
This season for spring/summer 2023, the schedule boasts plenty of both established and up-and-coming Scandi brands who will be presenting their latest designs on the international stage. But what really sets it apart from all the other fashion weeks is its focus on sustainability, and the organization’s effort in making substantial changes to the way the event is executed, working to inspire and encourage the industry to take steps towards becoming greener.
For the second season, Bazaar worked with Copenhagen Fashion Week and Creative Denmark to understand what it really means to be a responsible brand in the current climate, and what both designers on this schedule and consumers can do better to look after the planet we call home.
“We need a stronger commitment to combat the climate crisis,” Cecilie Thorsmark, the CEO of Copenhagen Fashion Week, tells us. “Current action by fashion industry is being countered by its huge production volumes, and as a result, climate impact continues to increase.”
