Wearing Disneybound or certain character clothing at Disney Parks is nothing new. In fact, this is to be expected for some die-hard Disney fans. However, Disney has been cracking down on their dress code rules lately, and some Guests are feeling the heat. But some fans are wondering how far it is too far.
Like most amusement parks, Disney parks have a set dress code which must be followed by all guests. This set of rules covers the basics of wearing basic clothing like shoes, shirts, etc., but it also covers costumes and related clothing for different age groups and special events. Most Guests stick to the guidelines and don’t make a fuss, but some impressive Disneybounders are feeling the sharp edge of the cutting edge as this Scarlet Witch Cosplayer shares in an article by the New York Post.

@namelessalexa is one of several Guests who may have encountered a similar problem. Their Disneybounds fall within the parameters of the aforementioned dress code, but some may be too close to the Parks Meet and Greet Characters. As Disney put it,
“All Guests may dress as their favorite characters, but may not pose for photos or sign autographs for other Guests. Costumes should be family friendly and can’t be distracting, offensive, distasteful, or rude.”
While @namelessalexa certainly has a stunning Scarlet Witch ensemble, it doesn’t seem like it’s breaking any of the standards set by the company. While she stated that she had been warned by Disney staff, a user went into the comments to say she put her headgear back on soon after and remained unbothered. It’s true that there are plenty of Guests impersonating princesses, pirates, and their favorite superheroes, but even the most elaborate outfits rarely break Disney rules. That said, the blame for this recent incident may lie with some other Disney fans, not dedicated cosplayers.

Parks guests like @amandaadimeo violate Disney’s explicit dress code of free merchandise and social media clout, and it has become a huge problem for cosplayers and Disneybounders who are completely innocent in their fandom displays. It takes more than one bad apple to ruin the bunch, but it seems influencers and social media personalities are making things even more difficult for true Disney fans.
