I found a beautiful and affordable holiday party dress on Amazon

The quality I found on this retailer’s site never ceases to amaze me, and I can add this gorgeous maxi dress to the list. It ticks all the boxes in terms of style, fit and price and with 55 colors and patterns to choose from, there’s no doubt I’ll be back for more. But here’s why it’s a must-have for the season.

It’s subtle but amazing

Since I was preparing for a meeting at home, my goal was not to find an OTT outfit. That is, I didn’t want bold gaps, feather details, or shiny materials that you can see from space. (Although, when I attend an upcoming event that requires the whole shebang, I’m sure Amazon will do it for me again.) The velvety fabric of this BerryGo gown sets the perfect tone. Along with the vertical stripe design, it provides a certain amount of casual elegance that is versatile enough to be paired with simple boots or high heels and statement jewelry.

Due to the wrap-tie style, there is leg cleavage, but the “sexy” factor can be adjusted. Wrap it looser for a more revealing look, or do as I did and move the bottom layer of the dress for more safety and less skin to show. Even so, I still wouldn’t spin by leaving the dance floor without wearing shaper shorts underneath.

The empire waist fit is a bonus, as I think that style looks the best on me. I don’t know about you, but when I think of traditional holiday attire, I’m immediately transported back to my youth with skirts that are scratchy and materials so heavy I feel like I’m wearing the sleeves of a sauna. So, I had high hopes for comfort and as I mentioned, this was a house party. My goal was to find something that would withstand dancing, throwing darts, and then some cat naps and late-night couch naps.

Along with the soft velvet fabric (I mean gentle), the dress also consists of elastane, which makes it quite stretchy. In fact, I can feel the material literally bouncing around my feet as I walk up and down the stairs. It’s light enough to make it easy to move around, but still offers enough weight to provide good warmth.

My favorite part is the openness of the sleeves; My biggest pet peeve for winter dresses is usually from that area in particular. We needed longer sleeves due to the cold weather but even the slightest bit of sweat could show through the top of most dresses. While I love the irregular hemline style, I noticed that the back length was a bit longer than I wanted. Every time I moved in a certain direction, I would occasionally step on the material, so I had to adjust to the inertia of the dress. If the brand came out in a “short” size, I’d be first in line. (But, for now, perhaps a longer hemline will come in handy when I can’t find a blanket during those aforementioned naps.)
