If you have a few thousand dollars to spare and like confusing people with your clothes, Loewe have something right up your alley.
The Spanish luxury brand is now selling the glitchy outfit it showed on the runway at Paris Fashion Week last fall under its Pixel capsule collection. The release includes clothing items such as baby blue hoodies, denim skirts and T-shirts as well as accessories such as handbags. If your budget is limited, the cheapest is a T-shirt with the Loewe logo is blurry for $590. Staying true, Loewe says the purchase will come in a limited edition pixelated package.
Of all the metaverse gimmicks disguised as commentary concocted by the fashion house, Loewes under creative director Jonathan Anderson was the least cynical. That Minecraft clothes don’t come with NFTs that will soon become useless or access to digital communities for the sake of inserting keywords. Instead, attention is paid to the detail and artistry that went into creating the garment: how did they make the pants look like that? What does the hoodie feel like in your hand? The physicality of the pieces is what makes them extraordinary.
Me, personally? This clothing is outside my tax bracket. But if I saw someone wearing one on the street, I would stop and stare.
