Munson previewed the Sporting Fashion for Outdoor Girls event

On Saturday, supervisors from Munson appeared at the Little Falls Library to preview the show ‘Sporting Fashion – Outdoor Girls 1800 to 1960.

This event explores the evolution of women’s athletic and leisure wear from June 23, 2023 to September 17, 2023. Learn how clothing has met the needs of women who have pursued active participation in sports and outdoor activities for two centuries.

Rose Hosp, a Lecturer for the organization, stated, “These items have come all the way from a museum in Los Angeles, and we are about to see the original accessories and clothing involved.”

“If you’re a member of the museum it’s free, a small fee if you’re not a member,” he said.

Says Hosp, “This covers how women get involved in sports, when, and which sports to start with. Usually it’s easy-going women who have money and servants who do the work that needs to be done around the house.”

He said that fashion is more than practicality is very important. “Eventually, as women moved west and had to do more work, there was a thriving ‘Annie Oakly’ cowgirl style, following male fashion because, obviously, heavy skirts were neither practical nor safe.”

Hosp stated, “These are all real clothes.”
