Kentucky flu shots urged to avoid hospital burden

FRANKFORT, Ky. (AP) – The Kentucky Public Health Commissioner is urging residents to get their flu shots to help ease pressure on hospitals in the months to come.

Dr Steven Stack says if more Kentuckians are immune to the flu, hospitals will have more capacity to care for COVID patients and other patients as well. Stack says the flu increases the number of people hospitalized in a typical winter.

According to Governor Andy Beshear’s office, dozens of Kentucky hospitals are currently experiencing critical staff shortages and are running out of beds available in adult intensive care units.

She then moved to Lake Charles, Louisiana, and worked as a weekend host / reporter at KPLC, the NBC / FOX / CW affiliate. Erica comes to Lexington from the Huntington area where she worked at WSAZ, an NBC / CW affiliate in West Virginia, as a weekday evening presenter also covering the tri-states of Ohio and Kentucky. In addition to her television background, Erica has worked in radio, was the PA announcer for Class A “Lansing Lugnuts” and hosted carnival parades in the US Virgin Islands. Some of her favorite hobbies include running, reading, hiking, spending time with her husband, and taking pictures of their furry babies. Erica is very involved in the community, having served on the Dress for Success board of directors, volunteering with Big Brothers Big Sisters, working on the Mayor’s Armed Services Commission in Lake Charles and hosting countless events. .
