i get the feeling there will be a lot of threads of “cant kill the mercy” even with the increased projectile sizes. i was able to deal with her pretty well with sombra, in fact it was crazy how easy that matchup got. now i dont think i can kill her straight out as sombra now and i wonder about other heroes
will mercy be immortal next patch?

Consider the new DPS passive, then ask yourself that again.
(and the adjustment to the support passive)

True but with her hyper mobility she can get out of combat fast so that debuff will tick off and the healing one will kick in after
I wonder, i think you have to brute burst that 250 health

Because of the DPS passive her pocket will be weaker, she cant break many breakpoints with DB anymore and shots are easier to land.
All in all S9 will be a pretty big nerf for Mercy.

I know about the pocket nerf im just wondering if her survivability will increase and her deaths per 10 minutes will decrease
I would be surprised if Mercy’s life will be any easier in s9

I would say its the same or she will survive longer, because she has more time to react to dangers. But all in all it does not matter if she survives more, if her value drops to the floor.

If I had to guess her surviability will go down. She is getting an increase of 50 health and an additional boost to her personal passive which will help her for sure. But it will also be easier to land shots which means actually hitting and potentially killing her will be easier. But also the damage passive will reduce both the healing she does to allies and whatever she recieves from her own passive. I think it will be easier to just kill someone being healed by her than it currently is, and dead teammates are teammates she cannot safely always jump to for an escape or for protection.
I think it will make her more vulnerable. Overall I’m mostly interested to see how things shake out, I’m fairly sure whatever the mid season patch brings will be a lot of further adjustments to a wide variety of characters. Or at lesst, I’d hope so lol.

I need to wait and see because I could always hit the Mercy myself and that will be even more consistent. The inherent issue is that literally none of my teammates could hit her. If that extra 50 keeps her alive while I am the only one shooting at her, she will be immortal unless my team picks it up. It’s not my decision…

I don’t think her survivability changes much. As for people not being able to hit her… if you are playing against players that can’t hit the Mercy… you are in a pretty low lobby. So they won’t be hitting much else either. Other than the tanks.

i get more hp on mercy might suck for low ranks… but i think its actually going to be a good way for low rank people to learn other supports. i feel alot of low ranks stick to mercy bc shes who they survive best on and so they get the highest heals/stats on her (since they stay alive to heal lol) but now every support will have 50 more hp…
low ranks might crutch less on mercy bc other supports will be able to offer more survivability ontop of just flat out better utility lol. anti+nano just wins low rank games right?
The answer will be “no, but people will refuse to shoot Mercy and then blame Mercy”.

Everyone will. Sustain is already a problem and they’re making it worse

How so? What in the patch makes you think that?
Dude. Read it. The ENTIRE patch is making it harder to kill things.

I have. That is why I am asking what YOU think is specifically going to do that?
- increase projectile size to make landing shots more consistent.
- tanks doing more damage
- 20% less healing received if they are hit by a DPS.
in a coordinated strike… people will still just fall over. Having 25, 50 hp more isn’t going to make any difference other than less likely to be one shot.

Don’t worry, mid season balance patch comes with a 20% buff on skill
The only reason she wasn’t busted in the pocket playstyle was because she couldn’t break many breakpoints on 200 hp heroes. Now she changes way more breakpoints, in particular hanzo. She will also reduce the number of shots needed for many heroes like ashe, cassidy, etc. The pocket playstyle might be pretty good this season, even if her fun and healthy playstyle isn’t.
The health buffs? The main change? Where are you going with this?
You won’t even NEED burst healing to keep people alive anymore. All the breakpoints are changed and it’s gonna be ridiculously hard if not impossible to burst through sustained healing.
Shots being easier to land doesn’t change the fact that you need a ton of them to kill now AND healing has barely been touched.
