Today comes an update on the much-anticipated Evil Dead: The Game, with Boss Team Games and Saber Interactive announcing that the game will no longer release in 2021.

As Bruce Campbell recently suggested in an interview, the game has already been pushed to next year, and now it’s tentatively slated to release in February 2022. Why do you ask?

Hey awesome gamer, we’re targeting a new release date to give the team some extra time to polish and to ensure this is the ultimate Evil Dead experience you’ve all been waiting for! The developers tweeted. “This extra time also allows us to implement a single player option that allows you to enjoy the game when you are without your co-op buddies.”

They add, “We want to thank everyone for your understanding and support, and please stay tuned for more information on new character updates, pre-order availability, and the next gameplay video featuring Bruce Campbell.”

The upcoming game features Bruce Campbell as Ash Williams, as well as Sheryl Williams from Ellen Sandoys from The Evil Dead, Marcus Gilbert Arthur from the Army of Darkness, Richard DeManincor’s Scotty from The Evil Dead, as well as Pablo Simon Bolivar and Dana from Ray Santiago. DeLorenzo’s Kelly Maxwell from Ash vs. Evil Dead.

Evil Ash from the Army of Darkness will also be included in the game, we learned recently in the trailer, which allows you to play as either the heroes or the evil Kandarian demon.

Boss Team describes the game: “For the first time ever, the world of Evil Dead comes together in one great experience starring horror hero Ashley J. Boss Team Games has entered into an epic collaboration with Renaissance Pictures, STUDIOCANAL, leading entertainment company Metro Goldwyn Mayer (MGM) and global content leader Lionsgate (NYSE: LGF.A, LGF.B) to create this one-of-a-kind game that puts players against the forces of evil unleashed by the Necronomicon Ex-Mortis, with scenes and sounds inspired by the films The Evil Dead and Evil Dead II. : Dead by Dawn and the Army of Darkness, as well as the original TV series Ash vs Evil Dead from STARZ.

“Together as a team of four survivors, explore, loot, craft, manage your fear, and discover key artifacts to bridge the gap between worlds. Or control the powerful Kandarian Demon to hunt down Ash and his friends while possessing the Deadites, the environment, and even the survivors themselves as you seek to swallow their souls.”

Lots of surprises await in this blood-soaked battle against evil that captures the characters, horror, humor and action of the franchise. Battle across unforgettable locations including the infamous cabin in the woods, brought to life with plenty of horrifying visuals and all-new dialogue from Bruce Campbell. Discover over 25 weapons, including Ash’s Gauntlet, Boomstick, and Chainsaw, and advance in a variety of skill trees to grow stronger and survive in this fun co-op and PvP experience.”
