A British woman who was working as a real estate agent in Florida has been shot dead while preparing to bid a property, by an allegedly evictioned tenant.

Sarah Trost, 40, of Southend, Essex, was shot Thursday while sitting in her jeep outside a home in Coral Springs, 40 miles north of Miami, at about 12.33 p.m.

Police arrested Raymond Reese, 51, before later charging him with first-degree murder.

A company spokesperson said: “Following an extensive investigation, Raymond Wesley Reese has been charged with first-degree murder. Reese is currently being transferred to the Palm Beach mayor’s office for processing.”

Investigators did not elaborate on the circumstances of the shooting. Emergency services tried to save Trost’s life in the driveway of the property, but she died before she could reach the hospital.

When the officers arrived, they discovered a car with a woman sitting in the driver’s seat suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. The Coral Springs Police Department said, despite immediate medical treatment, the driver died of her injuries at the scene and was pronounced dead.

Detectives arrested Reese in nearby Boca Raton, and the police report said no additional suspects were being sought.

Resident Donna Smith suggested to local television station WPLG Local 10 that the shooter may have been a “disgruntled tenant” who had recently been evicted from the home.

Trost, who lived in Parkland, a city north of Miami, was married with a three-year-old daughter. I owned the company after working as an interior designer.
