Education Secretary Gavin Williamson said the government expects all universities to return to direct teaching.
He told Sky News: “Universities are independent institutions. Our guidance is clear, our direction is clear and we expect all universities, unless there are unprecedented reasons, to return to the actual situation of offering face-to-face lessons and lectures.”
Asked if there should be a refund if not, Mr. Williamson said: “Universities have to resist their offers to their students, but we have a Student Desk, which targets universities offering low-quality courses, who are not doing enough, And we will give OFS all the strength, all the support, in order to pursue those universities that do not offer enough to the students who pay their fees.”
“I think if universities don’t deliver, don’t deliver what students expect, then in fact they shouldn’t be charging full fees,” he added.
