Prince Harry scored twice as he showed off his skills at a charity polo match in Colorado that raised £2.5m upon his return to work after Lillipet’s birth.

The Duke of Sussex has clearly enjoyed his day out with the pictures showing him on horseback and expertly moving the ball into the game as he scored two of his team’s three goals in their victory.

The match raised £2.5 million for his charity Sentebale.

He was next photographed with his friend, Argentine polo player Nacho Figueres, Sentebale’s ambassador, who was also in the business.

Figueras carried a shot of the two in good spirits after the match.

He said of Prince Harry: “How lucky I am to be able to ride with you on your mission to make the world a better satisfaction for people who aren’t as fortunate as us.

“Your commitment and passion for giving is my inspiration.

Ahead of the match, Harry also said he would donate £1.1m of proceeds from his memoir, due to be published next year, to his charity Sentebale.

Harry took part in the event after his paternity leave expired following the birth of his daughter Lillipet on June 4.

He founded Sentebale in memory of Princess Diana of Lesotho in 2006 to help South African children affected by poverty and disease.

The Duke said: “The Sentebale Polo Cup is essential to securing the funds needed to move forward on this important mission, and I am delighted to be able to support Sentebale personally and financially through a separate charitable donation to meet this urgent need.

“This is one of several donations I plan to make to charitable organizations and I am grateful to be able to give back in this way to children and communities that need it most.”

Sentebal said Harry’s support this year has been particularly important with last year’s Polo Cup match postponed due to Covid.

She said the match was her best fundraising opportunity and she was grateful for Harry’s help.

“Because last year’s Polo Cup was postponed and this year’s size and scope reduced significantly and correctly, the organization needs more support to continue its mission,” the organization said.

To help meet this need, the Duke is donating his time as well as honoring his personal commitment by donating a portion of his proceeds from his upcoming memoirs by allocating $1.5 million generously to Sentebale.

“Sentebale is grateful for his personal contribution, which will allow the organization to continue to operate at scale and continue to provide vital services to at-risk youth in South Africa.”
