Shaqiri and Leon “The Latest”
Xherdan Shaqiri continues to be linked with Liverpool’s exit this summer with a number of clubs interested in the Swiss international.
Although French club Lyon are set to win the race to secure his signature before the transfer deadline in less than two weeks, The Echo reported earlier this month.
It is understood that Lyon’s assessment of the player has fallen well below the asking price of the Reds and the club awaits a new offer.
Journalist Fabrizio Romano gave an update and suggested that the two clubs are in negotiations.
He told The Here We Go podcast: “Liverpool need to sell players before signing new players, Jurgen Klopp has been very clear. For Shqiri and Lyon, they have been in negotiations but there is no agreement yet.
“Shaqiri has an agreement with Lyon but there is no agreement yet with the clubs. So let’s see what happens in the negotiations.”
