OTTAWA – An earthquake shook western Quebec on Friday.
Earthquake Canada announces 3.8 magnitude earthquake in Maniwaki District, Kew. At 11:49 am, the epicenter was 40 km west-northwest of Maniwaki, 94 km northeast of Pembroke.
In a statement, Earthquake Canada said the quake was felt in the Maniwaki area.
The initial reading was a magnitude 4.0, but Earthquake Canada later said it was a magnitude 3.8.
No damage has been reported and none will be expected,” he said.
Manyiwaki is located 135 km north of Ottawa.
On March 14, a magnitude 3.3 earthquake struck Kemptville. There were no reports of damage.
On January 25, a 2.8 magnitude earthquake struck the area of Schoeville, Kew. Area. The quake was felt in Schuville, Ladysmith and Otter Lake.
