Simon Jordan considers Chelsea’s Romelu Lukaku the most important deal for the Manchester United legend

Cristiano Ronaldo will not intimidate the best defenders in the league as Virgil van Dijk and Romelu Lukaku will be the most important signings in the Premier League this summer.

That’s according to TalkSPORT presenter Simon Jordan, who has been giving his opinion on one of the busiest transfers in recent years.

Ronaldo and Lukaku return to the Premier League

Ronaldo is already a United legend

England midfielder Jack Grealish broke the Premier League transfer record this summer when he replaced Aston Villa for Manchester City for £100m, while Lukaku finished second on that list following his £97m move to Chelsea from Inter Milan.

But despite such a staggering fee, all-time superstar footballer Cristiano Ronaldo stole everyone’s thunder on Friday when he completed an impressive return to Manchester United from Juventus after 12 years.

But when the former Crystal Palace boss Jordan was asked who would make the biggest difference, his answer was quick and accurate.

Lukaku said.

“Lukaku plays for Chelsea, which I admire.

Lukaku scored his first goal for Chelsea on his debut

“I’m not a huge Chelsea fan, I’m a fan of FC London and not Chelsea so I don’t sit there in awe of Chelsea, but I am a fan. [Thomas] Tuchel, I think he embodies everything a manager should be.

“I think his team is really great and I think Lukaku in this aspect will score 30 plus goals this season.”

Lukaku had already broken his scoring card for Chelsea after failing to find the net on his first spell, but appeared a little weak at the weekend when he faced Liverpool’s Van Dijk in a 1-1 draw at Anfield.

However, Jordan singled out another signing who will struggle against the best defenders in the league.

“In the big games, I don’t think Ronaldo would put the fear of God in Virgil van Dijk,” Jordan said.

United fans can’t wait to get Ronaldo back

“I don’t think Ronaldo would put the fear of God in some of these defenders.

“But maybe he puts the fear of God at Crystal Palace or Wolverhampton Wanderers or Burnley or Brentford or Newcastle United.”

Jordan then went on to compare the Premier League to the Italian league, while noting that this could be the season in which Ole Gunnar Solskjaer wins his first title as Manchester United manager.

“If you have players on big occasions playing against a proper centre-back, we will see if Ronaldo can still turn the helix to a level that I doubt he will be able to do,” Jordan said.

“It’s one thing he plays in Italian football, I know he’s very defensive and technical, but he’s not physical and not as fast.

“There will be a point where Ole Gunnar Solskjaer wins something, if you keep buying £150m players, you win something somewhere along the streak!”
