Piers Morgan has been photographed with a top ITV executive – days after Ofcom ruled that his controversial comments about the Duchess of Sussex did not violate broadcasting rules.
The presenter, who broke into Good Morning Britain and later left the show, was seen along with TV channel director Kevin Lego in a box at The Oval cricket ground yesterday.
It was previously understood that Morgan would not be invited again to host GMB, but would work on other projects with the broadcaster.
“Good day for free speech” – Piers Morgan
But the morning show has been reliant on rotating guest hosts since he left, and the photo may fuel speculation that Morgan is about to return.
In March, Ofcom received more than 50,000 complaints – including from the Duchess of Sussex herself – in response to remarks he made about Meghan after her interview with Oprah Winfrey.
The Duchess claimed she was ignored when she raised concerns about her mental health and suicidal thoughts – and went on to claim racist comments were made before the birth of her son Archie.
And while Ofcom ruled that Morgan’s comments “may be harmful and deeply offensive,” the regulator said GMB was not violating broadcast law because his comments had been challenged by other hosts.

When news of Ofcom’s decision first broke on Wednesday, Morgan tweeted: “Am I getting my job back?”
He later announced that he would make a decision “very soon” on his next workplace, adding, “I’ve had a lot of offers and I’ve sped up in the last 10 hours, as you can imagine, I’m going to take a free speech campaign around the world and all I’m asking is to have an owner A work that believes in it as passionately as I do.”
Back in April, Lego told Deadline, “Pierce is something special. You can’t replace someone like him. There’s no one like Pierce, whether that’s good or bad.”
