Nuno Espirito Santo ‘almost toxic’ after Tottenham draw with Rennes ‘relaxed’ – national media

Tottenham scored a 2-2 draw in their opening Europa League match with Rennes on Thursday night.

On a difficult evening in France, arguably his most difficult task in the Group G stage, Spurs took an early lead through Loic’s own goal before the French side fired on either side of the first half through Flavien Tait and Gaetan Laborde.

And Spurs gave a point, scored by Pierre-Emile Hojberg from Matt Doherty’s cross in the 76th minute, as Stephen Bergwijn and Lucas Moura lost through injury as the injury list continued to grow.

“I think they will feel good. I think the feeling in this dressing room will be comfortable because Rin had better chances.

“They worked a lot more Giulini than Spurs did Rennes. I can’t really remember an open chance that Spurs created in the extra 90 minutes.

“Yes, the first goal came with a nice style of play to get in behind, but then they got quite a bit of luck. But there is room for improvement. That wouldn’t be good enough.

“There was a strong team that was put out tonight and I think at the end it was a touch and it stopped if they were going to lose that game.

“I think they’ll be comfortable with the result. It’s a good point in the end. It’s not an easy place to go to Rennes. You can see that, the fans were ready for that.”

Feet 2-2. I don’t think this was so bad. Rennes is a decent team and the #THFC was always watching the Chelsea game on Sunday.
