Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s shock response to Harry Maguire’s claim after Manchester United defeat

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer appeared shocked when he reported that Harry Maguire had claimed Manchester United lacked confidence in Saturday’s Manchester derby.

United fell by one goal in the space of 10 minutes against Manchester City when Eric Bailly scored an own goal, and the visitors’ lead doubled just before the break when Bernardo Silva took advantage of some disastrous defense to slam into the back post.

There would be no way back from there for United in the second half as they suffered another disappointing defeat.

There have been unprecedented calls for Solskjaer to be relieved of his duties in recent weeks, and the United boss faced questions from the press after the match, however, there was one particular question after the match that clearly angered the Norwegian.

Solskjaer was told Maguire claimed United lacked faith against City and that his facial expressions said it all.

“Did they say they lack faith?” Said Solskjaer, interrupting the reporter’s question and looking frustrated.

He then replied after regaining his composure: “It’s a big thing, we’re human.” “That’s our job now – my job – to work on it, to make sure we go into the next game with the right mindset, the winners mentality and the positive mindset.

“Of course, when you play, you can lose confidence when you can’t reach the ball.

“We haven’t been able to make the transformations we’re good at.”
