Aftershocks were reported from as far away as Dubai and Saudi Arabia.

The Dutch news agency BNO News quoted the Iranian Red Crescent as saying: “The situation in Hormozgan province is red.

Assessment teams were sent to the area to assess potential damage.

Iranian news agencies reported that nearly 6,200 people lived near the epicenter.

And local media reported that a regional official said: “The earthquake was felt by residents in several cities in southern Iran in Hormozgan province.”
