Mauricio Pochettino signs Manchester United shirt and ignores the future

Manchester United have given another strong hope that Mauricio Pochettino will become their next permanent coach, with the Argentine refusing to confirm whether he will remain coach of Paris Saint-Germain for the long-term.

The Red Devils are in the process of appointing a new manager to succeed Ole Gunnar Solskjaer. The Norwegian was sacked after a string of poor performances which saw him lose seven of his last 13 matches. However, life is really starting to emerge after an important win under interim president Michael Carrick at Villarreal.

However, that was not enough for Paul Scholes, who remains skeptical of the club’s decision to sign two players.

However, ignoring the criticism, the club is embarking on the process of appointing an interim manager first. This man is likely to lead the club until May when a permanent successor takes over.

According to widespread reports, former Tottenham boss and current president of Paris Saint-Germain Pochettino is the club’s “first choice”.

And to help United in the Pochettino relegation case, a report said legendary figure Sir Alex Ferguson is also playing his part.

Indeed, reports earlier this week indicated that Pochettino is ready to withdraw from Paris Saint-Germain for a stronger stability at Old Trafford.

Now Pochettino is talking again about his chances of staying in Paris for the long term.

And speaking of after Champions Leafue’s 2-1 loss to Manchester City, his response to Canal+ offered nothing but more intrigue.

His simple answer to the question was “Thank you, sir.”

However, in the pressure after the match, Pochettino couldn’t offer any guarantees when asked if his players knew what his future held.

“The players know our situation very well,” Pochettino said.

“I think we live in a business where rumors go viral. Sometimes it’s negative, sometimes it’s positive, sometimes it’s positive, sometimes it’s negative. That’s what we say about rumours.”

Pochettino admits the suffering of Paris Saint-Germain

Pochettino also knows his players have taken something of a tough lesson from City.

“I think the first half was difficult because Manchester City forced us to play deeper and it could be a good situation or worse,” Pochettino told PSG TV via Metro.

“We have suffered, but you have to know how we suffer at this level, in the Champions League, against a team like Manchester City, there are times when you need to suffer.

“In the second half, I think we started better. I think we dominated the game in several periods and scored goals. After that, the team conditions did not help us to continue in the same way and then we conceded.

“A bit frustrating but the qualification is there. We were hoping to be the first so yes it’s disappointing at this point.”

Perhaps the biggest indication of his intentions came after Pochettino was seen signing a Manchester United shirt.

The footage surfaced on Wednesday as the fan explained the turn of events to talkSPORT.

“We met Bosch today, my kid had his autograph items in the bag and the guy goes, ‘See if you can get him to sign the Man United shirt.’ This is my kid’s shirt, and what they haven’t posted is a picture of him signing it,” said the United fan.

“There was a representative next to him, ‘Excuse me, it’s a Manchester United shirt, he’s not going to sign it.’ Then he said, ‘It’s OK, it’s OK’ and he signed it.

“I totally expected him to [not sign it]. I said [to my son]Sign your card first, take your shirt off, and see what happens.

“He was asked to decline the request, so he had an exit, but he didn’t and he signed it.”
