Backlash over Covid-19 vaccine as there are no appointments or visits in Bristol

There was a backlash from residents living in Bristol when they were trying to get their third vaccination.

Late on Sunday, December 12, Prime Minister Boris Johnson made an announcement opening the vaccination program to all adults aged 18 and over.

It’s called the “Omicron Emergency Booster National Mission” with the goal of giving every adult in England the chance to get a third hit before the end of the year.

However, this was not easy. The NHS website was opened to anyone aged 30 or over as of Monday (December 13) but it has faced endless problems from huge queues and persistent crash records.

People between the ages of 18 and 29 will be able to book their vaccinations starting tomorrow (December 15) although there have been reports of no appointments in the area before January.

Twitter user ramble_kat attacked the West of England Metro Mayor on Twitter after he issued an appeal for people to get a booster vaccine.

She said: “Do you realize that booster vaccine appointments are not available until January via Bristol? There are very few visiting options.”

Anyone aged 18 or over was able to attend a reception center for a booster vaccination against coronavirus from Monday, December 12, although supply shortages have caused problems across Bristol.

Earlier today, the Bristol Rapid Test Centre, on Wellington Road, reported three-hour queues for booster hits as thousands of people arrived at the site near Cabot Circus.

Another Twitter user, @bristoleno, said: “It’s easier to get a Banksy T-shirt than to get a booster vaccine for coronavirus from the only reception center in Bristol.”

Luke Merrett also said online: “My partner was there for opening time, due to his claiming to run out of vaccines by the time I got to the front of the waiting list.

“It’s great to see people take the booster seriously enough that at least stocks are running out.”
