Is Charlie Cox the reckless in Spider-Man No Way Home?

[ad_1]

Among the endless speculation about Spider-Man: No Way Home were persistent rumors that Charlie Cox would be in the movie.

While not on the same scale as speculation by Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield, it was something the star had to deal with constantly. This is despite the fact that Cox revealed in April 2020 that he “wasn’t involved in it”.

That didn’t stop fans from teasing the possibility of Matt Murdock returning, and bringing Daredevil back into the MCU fold. They even thought the first trailer showed Cox’s arms, leading to another unique denial from the star: “I can promise you they’re not my arms.”

This seemed to put an end to it, but in December 2021, Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige revealed that if Daredevil returned to the MCU, Cox would be playing with him. Do another round of speculation, especially since Kingpin was making an appearance on Hawkeye.

So, now that No Way Home is out, is Cox returning as Matt Murdock/Dardeville? Just read after the picture if you want to know.

The answer is yes, yes he does, although it’s a pretty short appearance compared to the roles that Garfield and Maguire play.

As fans have come to expect since the end of the Far From Home bombshell, Matt Murdock has been hired by Peter Parker to help him with his legal troubles. Cox’s only sighting comes after Peter and his friends are questioned by the Damage Control Department, following his revelations and Mysterio’s allegations.

In his only scene, Matt sits down with Peter, his aunt May, and Happy Hogan to tell Peter that no charges have been brought against him. Saeed is not so lucky as he is investigated for missing Stark Technologies equipment, but eventually gets away with it.

But Matt has a warning for Peter: “You may have dodged your legal troubles, but things will only get worse. There is still a court of public opinion.”

As if to highlight this, a brick is thrown through the window at that moment. He’s behind Matt, but he manages to catch him in the air without even looking at him. Peter asks “How did you do that?” And Matt replied, “I’m a really good lawyer.”

Matt apparently did a better job of keeping his superhero’s identity secret than Peter was able to do because he really had no idea who his attorney was.

This particular scene drew Holland’s ridicule prior to the release of No Way Home as he talks about one of the “most amazing scenes ever”. “There were four people sitting at a table, talking about what it feels like to be a superhero, and that was cool,” he said sarcastically.

Unfortunately, this is the only time we see Matt in No Way Home who doesn’t wear any time and joins the fight as Daredevil. Hopefully it won’t be long before we see that happen again already in the MCU.

Spider-Man: No Way Home is now available in cinemas.
