The village was closed off at either end by Police Scotland, with officers turning back all traffic. Officers from the Specialized Firearms Unit were called up. Screams could be heard from inside the property, which is understood to be the home of a middle-aged man.

Locals initially claimed that there had been a shooting and that a hostage was being held inside the property, which the police denied.
A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “Officers are currently on a property in Mina Crescent, Kinglassie, with a man holed up inside. There is no risk to the wider public.”
