Dave, Ed Sheeran, Adele and Little Sims lead next year’s BRIT Award nominations with a new set of gender-neutral categories.

Gone are the top categories for men and women, with the creation of new broader groups that include all artists, regardless of their gender.

Adele, Dave, Little Simz, and Sheeran each received four nominations, including in both Artist of the Year and Album of the Year, where they will face Sam Fender – who has three nominations.

Newcomer Central Cee also earned three nods—in the new artist group, Obsessed With You Song of the Year, and in the newly created hip-hop, soot, and rap category.

Song of the Year is also hotly contested with 15 acts nominated (determined based on UK chart position during the year) and includes the likes of Elton John, Dua Lipa, KSI, A1 & J1.

Elsewhere, Coldplay has two nominations in the rock, alternative and best group category, as is newly independent Raye, who is poised for Best Dance Acting and Best Song.

Internationally, Eurovision winner Maneskin is capping off their mega year and winning two accreditations in the Song and Song categories overseas.

Billie Eilish, Doja Cat, Lil Nas X, and Olivia Rodrigo also received a pair of nominations for each of the international categories.

Lincolnshire singer-songwriter Holly Humberstone has already been announced as the winner of the coveted Rising Star Award, following in the footsteps of the likes of Adele and Sam Smith and last year’s winner Griff, who received two nominations this year.

The award categories aren’t just fixed – there are new hosts too.

Maya Gama, Mo Gilligan and Clara Ampho will present the awards for the first time at the O2 Arena next year.

The awards will be broadcast on ITV and ITV Hub on February 8, 2022.
