Education Minister Nadim Zahawi was asked if he was influenced by Molly May Haig when he spoke about work ethics during his latest round of interviews.
The Love Island star came under scrutiny last week for a clip from a recent podcast interview, in which she said we all have “the same 24 hours in a day” to get what we want.
Molly May’s comments led to her being compared to Margaret Thatcher, whose ideals included placing a value on hard work and holding people responsible for their lives rather than help from the state.
On Sunday, Mr. Zahaway spoke with LBC presenter Tom Swarbrick about tax increases and higher costs for energy bills that will leave many families struggling to cope financially.
“People are looking to the government for help with energy prices and the government so far isn’t doing anything more than it did this time last year,” Swarbrick said.
Mr. Zahawi replied: “The best way to help people is to make sure that there is a job available to them and the way we have dealt with the Covid pandemic is that we have had the highest employment rate, probably, in Europe, if not, only G7.
Making comparisons between the minister’s message and that of Molly May, Swarbrick then asked: “In order to help with higher energy prices, the government is saying ‘get a better paying job’.”

However, Mr Zahaway shrugged off any influence from Molly May explaining: ‘No, what I was telling you was we put £4.2bn of money in to help those who need it most, including if you look at the National Insurance the contribution will go up, and it will pay 14 % of top earners are 50% and 6.6 million people won’t pay anything for it, this is a progressive way to actually invest.”
In her interview with Steve Bartlett in his Voice Memoirs for an Executive Director, Molly Mae talks about her phenomenal success compared to other islanders since leaving a Love Island villa in 2019, which included becoming creative director of fast-paced brand PrettyLittleThing.

“You’re given one life and it’s up to you what you do with it,” said the 22-year-old. You can literally go in any direction.
When I’ve talked about it in the past, I’ve been criticized quite a bit, with people saying, “It’s easy for you to say, ‘You weren’t grown in poverty, you didn’t grow up with big money struggling, so for you to sit there and say we all have the same 24 hours in a day, that’s Not right “.
“And I like, but what I say is technically true. We do. So I understand that we all have different backgrounds and that we all grew up in different ways and have different financial situations, but I think if you want something enough, you can achieve it.”

It just depends on what lengths you want to get to where you want to be in the future. I would go to any lengths. I’ve worked my absolute **mail to get to where I am now.
After heavy criticism, Molly May’s rep released a statement on her behalf saying that the star acknowledges that “everyone is from different backgrounds” and that her comments were about “time efficiency in relation to success” as well as “hard work and determination in her own life.”
