The footage shows a British Airways plane stuck in high winds that almost capsized as pilots attempted to land during a Currie storm.
British Airways Flight 1307 was approaching London Heathrow after flying from Aberdeen on Monday when the accident occurred.
Video shows the A321 Neo attempting to land just after midday, but the winds, which have reached 92mph in areas around the UK, mean it has had to take off again after the wheels hit the runway.
The aircraft can be seen swaying in the wind, before bending sharply to the left after touchdown, supported precariously only by the wheels on its left side.
The plane’s tail appears to be almost touching the ground.
The pilots avoided potential disaster by immediately executing the “touch and go” maneuver, and take off again before the aircraft could over-balance and return on a second attempt.
The man recording the footage appears confident at first, and can be heard saying, “He’s got this picture, he’s lucky,” as the plane approaches the runway.
“Yes, he understood that,” he adds.
However, as the plane begins to capsize, he can be heard shouting: “Easy, easy, easy! Oh my God!”
The airline confirmed that the plane landed safely after the failed attempt.
A British Airways spokesperson told The Independent: “Our pilots are highly trained to manage a range of scenarios, including extreme weather conditions, and our cabin crew have landed the aircraft safely. Our customers and crew all disembarked as usual.”
Storm Corey has caused problems across the UK over the past few days, with thousands left without power and all Scotrail train services canceled last night.
The Met Office issued a weather warning for high winds in northern England and said the storm could cause a life-threatening situation with flying debris and damage to buildings and trees.
At least two people were killed in the storms.
