An earthquake measuring 4.9 on the Richter scale struck off the coast of Oregon on Wednesday morning, in the latest small quake to hit the waters of the Pacific Northwest.
The quake struck at 4:24 a.m. 185 miles west of Bandon, according to the US Geological Survey. No injuries or damages have been reported.
No tsunami warning was issued.
Earthquakes are common off the coasts of Oregon and Washington. A 5.2-magnitude earthquake struck 160 miles west of Bandon on November 21. Three days earlier, a 4.5-magnitude earthquake had struck 120 miles west of Koos Bay.
Experts say there is a 40% chance of a major earthquake of up to 9.0 magnitude from the Cascadia subduction zone sometime in the next 50 years.
