Ukraine has spoken! TVORCHI won “Vidbir” UA: the PBC program used to select an entrant for the Eurovision Song Contest.

Electro outfit TVORCHI consists of friends Jeffrey and Andrey who met while studying at Ternopil National Medical University in western Ukraine in 2018.

So far they have enjoyed plenty of local success, with four albums and several singles to their name. Now they will follow in the footsteps of Eurovision 2022 champions Kalush Orchestra and head to the Eurovision Song Contest, which takes place in Liverpool next May.

Watch Heart Of Steel here.

Vidbir was hosted by Go_A alumni Kateryna Pavlenko (2021), Zlata Ognevich (2013) and Eurovision 2017 host Timur Miroshnychenko, and broadcast live from a metro station in Kyiv that doubled as a bomb shelter.

This was referenced after Jamala’s performance in the interlude, when the 2016 winner thanked the audience for watching:

Thank you so much for watching us, for supporting us, it’s really important to our days – from this basement – that we create new music for Ukraine and Ukraine.

The winning song was chosen by a combination of public and jury voting, with the three jury members being chosen by the public. The jury consisted of Taras Topoulia (singer with Antitella), Jamala (2016 Eurovision Song Contest champion) and Yulia Sanina (singer with THE HARDKISS).

Vidbir results:

General Points I Miss You (Oi, Tozu) 527 Timber Blanche – I’m Home (I’m Home) 235 Angelina – 314 Stronger

Vidbir can be rewatched on PBC’s official UA: Eurovision YouTube channel.

Before the final, Pianoboy (Feedbear Music Producer) said:

I am very grateful to all the musicians who have been able to do important work in really difficult conditions, emotionally and physically, often under sirens and bombs, in basements and without a power source. The task was complicated, in addition to writing a good song that would touch people, record it in the studio and perform it directly at the auditions, the participants had to comply with all the rules of national selection.

As a result of the wonderful joint work of the UA: PBC team and the musicians who submitted their songs for participation in Eurovision 2023, this year we will hear a lot of interesting new Ukrainian music of very different styles, and I am sure that everyone will find their favorite listener there.

There were a lot of great musicians besides these 10 finalists, who, I think, will soon have their say in Ukrainian music. This gives me hope and confidence that 2024 FeedBear will be no less interesting! “
