A 52-year-old man has been charged with the murder of an NHS nurse and her two children in Kettering.
Saju Chilavalil is accused of killing Anju Asok, 35, Jeeva Saju, six, and Jhanvi Saju, four.
Northampton Police said: “Detectives tonight have charged Saju Chilavalil, 52, with three counts of murder.”
Mr Chilavalell, of Petherton Court, Kettering, was arrested by officers called to his address at 11.15am on Thursday, 15th December.
“On attending, officers found Anju Asok, 35, Jiva Saju, six, and Janvi Saju, four, seriously injured and despite the best efforts of the paramedics, the police officers and hospital staff all died shortly after.
“Post-mortem forensic examinations were carried out at Leicester Royal Infirmary, where it was concluded that all three died as a result of asphyxiation.”
Chellavalell will appear at Northampton Magistrates Court on Monday.
Asoke, who was a “well-liked and respected” nurse, was honored.
Deborah Needham, chief executive of Kettering General Hospital where she worked, said: “Anju Asok was an internationally trained nurse who joined the KGH family in 2021 and worked primarily on Barnwell B – one of our orthopedic wards.
“She was a committed and compassionate nurse, who was loved and respected by her dear friends and colleagues.
“All of our thoughts are with her friends and family as they cope with this sudden loss.”
The hospital added that it provides professional support to its colleagues.
Local Police District Commander Supt Steve Freeman said: “There are no words to describe how upsetting this incident is, but I want to reassure the public that we have a team of investigators working on the case, who are absolutely determined to get justice for this woman and two children.
We understand that the local community, and indeed many people across the country, will be shocked by this event. It is a very sad incident and I want to be absolutely clear about our firm commitment to proving what happened here and to seeking justice for this woman and these young children.”
