The scoring in the last meeting between the two teams seemed to start early when Kyogo Furuhashi lurked at the back post and headed towards Remy Matthews’ goal.

However, the goalkeeper received a hand on the ball and, despite Kyogo’s protests, referee Kevin Clancy said the ball did not cross the goal line.

It didn’t take long for the Japan international to get his name on the score sheet regardless, with a nice shot close to the post from Matt O’Reilly’s low cross making it 2-0 to the hoops after Ryo Hatate put them ahead.

Ahead of the match, Ange Postecoglou urged his players to ensure they take the correct positions in and around the penalty area after several begging chances against Livingston in midweek.

“We didn’t have enough numbers in the box,” Postecoglou said after Levy’s win. “We know we get into those areas, we know the way the balls come in and you have to work hard to get there and people haven’t been working hard enough to get into those areas.

“There are some really good goalscoring opportunities that we missed. That’s something we need to keep working on.”
