And Tovez, who sacked Frank Lampard on Monday after eight defeats in nine, thought they had snatched away the loan signing of the Dutchman from Villarreal.
Danjuma, 25, had already had a medical with the Goodison Park outfit at the weekend.
But with the papers not yet signed, Tottenham snuck in at 11 o’clock to steal the winger on loan right from under Everton’s noses.
Danjuma traveled down to make a treatment for Tottenham on Tuesday and the deal is expected to run through the season
