The Rick and Morty co-creator has left the High on Life studio he founded following the allegations

Rick and Morty co-creator Justin Roiland and founder of High on Life developer Squanch Games will not be associated with either project following allegations of domestic violence.

Squanch Games announced this morning via Twitter that it had received Roiland’s resignation beginning last week. Ongoing support for the Xbox Game Pass hit will continue.

At the same time, US Rick and Morty’s Adult Swim network confirmed that it had severed ties with Roiland, though his popular animated show would continue. Roiland voiced both title characters, and their roles will now be recast.

Roiland’s dramatic departure from two high-profile projects he helped create follows domestic violence accusations emerging as of 2020.

Roiland pleaded not guilty to charges of battery and false imprisonment brought by a former partner.

Rick and Morty is currently airing six seasons and has several more seasons already ordered, now under the purview of fellow co-creator Dan Harmon.

High on Life remains popular on Xbox Game Pass after it launched on Microsoft’s subscription service for PC and Xbox at the end of last year and instantly became the most popular thing on it, despite the divide in critical opinion.
