A 6.2-magnitude earthquake struck the remote New Britain region of Papua New Guinea on Sunday, the US Geological Survey said, but no tsunami warning was issued.
The US Geological Survey said the quake had a depth of 38 kilometers (23 miles), and was recorded in the sparsely populated West New Britain archipelago on Sunday morning.
The shaking was felt in the resort town of Wallende Plantation near the town of Kempe, 80 km from the quake, but one of the workers described it as “not too bad”.
“Nobody really responded, it shook, but no damage,” resort operator Vanessa Hughes told AFP.
