SpaceX has finally launched its Mars rover into orbit.

The first attempt was delayed after a “pressure issue” caused the company to pull the launch within minutes.

But she’ll try again on April 20th — which just so happens to be one of CEO Elon Musk’s favorite dates.

Eventually, SpaceX hopes to use the spacecraft to explore the Moon and Mars. But for now, it will complete a short orbital flight, rise into space and then fall again.

SpaceX says there were no boats in the path of the rocket as it lifted off over the Gulf of Mexico. The team has to make sure that there is nothing in the water below where the missile could fall for obvious reasons. (This was another problem SpaceX ran into on Monday — when the Coast Guard spotted a boat in range — though it wasn’t the reason for the launch delay.)
