On the other hand, the club insists that the player sign a new deal or leave this summer so as not to lose him for free in 2024. Now, PSG captain Marquinhos has shared his views on the ongoing issue at the Paris-based club and hopes things can be sorted out soon.

What they said: Speaking to reporters, the Paris Saint-Germain defender said, “It’s a sensitive question. Kylian is an exceptional player, very strong but the decision is beyond us, and we have to see it with the management. We always want to develop with the right players. I hope a good solution can be found so he can get back into the group and help us this season.”

The bigger picture: The Union of French Footballers (UNFP) recently came out to Mbappe’s defense. They issued a statement criticizing PSG’s treatment of players like Mbappe after their decision to sideline the striker. The federation also noted that he is just one of many stars such as Levin Kurzawa, Leandro Paredes, Jorginho Wijnaldum and Keylor Navas to face such treatment from the club.
