Yo Darvish stole walking music by Anthony Rizzo

The game was tight and tense enough that I missed it the first time he came out, but the second time Yu Darvish played at bat, I could hear it clearly: The former Cubs player swiped instantly recognizable Anthony Rizzo’s music on a stroll . on the plate.

Very beautiful. You can watch the song, and Darvish’s antics, on San Diego radio for the first time on AB:

You can see that Darvish was trying to get Rizzo’s attention, and also hints to anyone looking at him that it would be worth listening to his music this time around.

Turns out, Darwish wasn’t going around with Rizzo with this move, he was honoring him:

U Darvish stole Anthony Rizzo’s music when he came to strike in his first game against the Cubs today. It was his way of honoring him.

“It was Rizzo who kind of took care of me when things weren’t going my way in Chicago.” https://t.co/W8oBlEWjBL

“I used this song because Rizzo kind of took care of me when things weren’t going my way in Chicago,” Darwish said, via ESPN. “It was, in a way, to say ‘thank you’ to him. I obviously have a good relationship with him.”

Well done yo. Everyone enjoys it, and it’s funny too.
