First Lady Jill Biden practiced a bit of coastal diplomacy on Thursday, taking a beach stroll with British Prime Minister Boris Johnson’s wife and one-year-old son.
Pictures showed Biden, 70, laughing with Carrie Johnson, 33, and young Wilfred near the ocean in Cornwall, where their husbands sat before the G7 summit.
The two women were spotted exchanging heels for flip-flops to frolic on the windy beach of Carbis Bay.
Once, Biden and her British counterpart dipped their toes into the ocean, as Wilfred was playing on the sand in a diaper.
The first lady wore a black and white polka-dotted Brandon Maxwell dress and a black jacket with “love” printed across the back, while Johnson, who married the prime minister last month, wore a long red dress.
The trip took place after the pair met for the first time earlier on Thursday, the Bidens’ first full day of their European trip.

President Biden received a standing ovation in England from the British leader, but he dodged his handshake to salute the prime minister’s new bride instead, joking: “We both got married over our station.”
The heads of state exchanged other pleasantries before moving on to change the subject from a reported clash over Northern Ireland policy.
The meeting is the president’s first with a foreign leader abroad since taking office and will seek to underscore the “special relationship” between the UK and the US.
During their summit, Biden and Johnson will announce a new Atlantic Charter, updating the 1941 agreement that sets out the United States and the United Kingdom’s goals for the world after World War II.
