Like Google Chrome, Chrome OS will move to a four-week release schedule

Google announced on Friday that it will adjust the release cycle for Chrome OS later this year, moving to a schedule where it releases a new version every four weeks.

“To deliver new features more quickly to consumers while also continuing to prioritize the core pillars of Chrome OS — security, stability, speed, and simplicity — Chrome OS will transition to a stable channel for 4 weeks starting with M96 in the fourth quarter,” the Chrome OS release Marina Kazataker said, TPM Leader, in a blog post. For enterprise and education users who may not want a fast release cycle, Google is also planning to introduce a new update channel with a 6-month tempo by the time of M96 release.

The speed of the Chrome OS release schedule will put it on par with the Google Chrome browser, which will also move to a four-week release schedule. For Chrome, this change will start in the third quarter of this year.
