A moderate earthquake of 4.4 on the Richter scale is located 23 km southwest of Jalalabad, Afghanistan

The Indian National Center of Seismology (NCS) reported a 4.4-magnitude earthquake in Afghanistan near Jalalabad, Jalalabad, Nangarhar, just 17 minutes ago. The earthquake struck early in the morning on Wednesday, June 16, 2021 at 1:52 a.m. local time at a fairly shallow depth of 30 km. The exact magnitude, epicenter and depth of the earthquake may be reviewed within the next few hours or minutes as seismologists review the data and improve their calculations, or when other agencies release their reports. It caused no significant damage, but it was probably felt by many people in the form of a slight vibration in the epicenter area. A weak tremor may have been felt in Jalalabad (population 200,300) located 23 km from the epicenter, and Luswalu yi Ocean center (population 15,100) 44 km away. Very weak shaking was felt including Basawul (population 6800) located 56 km from the epicenter, Hakamati Azrah (population 12,500) 59 km, Asadabad (population 48,400) 103 km, and Kabul (population 3043,500) kilometers away.
