According to the internal note, Apple is not holding back on its hybrid business model

Apple is not holding back on a hybrid work model that will require most employees to return to the office three days a week starting in early September. The entire remote placements will be very limited.

“We believe in-person collaboration is essential to our culture and our future,” Deirdre O’Brien, senior vice president of retail and people, said in a video seen by The Verge. “If we take a moment to reflect on our amazing product launch last year, the products and launch execution are built on the years of work we did when we were all personally.”

The news comes nearly a month after Apple CEO Tim Cook sent an email telling employees that the company is rolling out a new business model that requires them to return to work in the office on Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays starting in the fall.

In the wake of this announcement, Apple employees wrote a letter stating that some employees were forced to resign due to the policy, and demanded that Cook change his position. They asked that all teams be given the option to work remotely, noting that “without the inclusion that flexibility provides, many of us feel we have to choose between a combination of our families, our well-being and enabling us to do our best to work, or to be part of Apple.”

Now, Apple is essentially rejecting that request, saying that any remote work decisions will be made “on a case-by-case basis with any new remote jobs requiring executive approval.”
