Trump reportedly told aides that Hitler did a lot of good things

Plenty of books are on shelves right now, promising to tell the shocking untold story of the Trump era — but that outrageous claim would be hard to beat. An upcoming book by Michael Bender of the Wall Street Journal recounts a note from then-President Donald Trump praising Adolf Hitler. The book claims — titled Frankly, We Won This Election — that Trump was speaking to his chief of staff John Kelly on a 2018 visit to Europe to mark the centenary of the end of World War I. Bender reported that Kelly was trying to teach Trump about the history of the conflict and that he “connected the dots from World War I to World War II and all of Hitler’s atrocities.” Trump is said to have responded: “Well, Hitler did a lot of good things.” Kelly reportedly scolded Trump in the face, telling him, “You can’t say anything in support of Adolf Hitler. You just can’t.” According to the Guardian, Trump denied he ever made the remark.
