View all 30 players selected by the Seattle Kraken

The Seattle Kraken will extend its tentacles and snatch players from 30 teams Wednesday night in the NHL expansion draft, starting at 8 p.m. ET on ESPN2.

Every team except the Vegas Golden Knights, the 2017 expansion franchise that was exempted from this draft, submitted rosters of protected players to the NHL on Saturday. Twenty-seven teams protected seven attackers, three defenders and one goalkeeper, while the Nashville Predators, the Tampa Bay Lightning and the Toronto Maple Leafs went with their eight skaters and a goalkeeper protection system instead. These were the same rules under which the Golden Knights built their team.

Just as teams have had to unearth some wanted players, the Kraken have some stakes to consider in their draft. They must take in at least 14 attackers, nine defenders and three goalkeepers. Seattle must select a minimum of 20 players under contract for the 2021-22 regular season, those with a “total expansion draft value of 60%-100%” of the $81.5 million salary cap.

Bearing in mind that we’re not privy to all the side deals that ensure that certain players aren’t picked by Kraken – or that certain players are chosen – here are our best guesses as Seattle players pick in the expansion draft.
