The rhythm-based game is available on the fitness company’s stationary bikes and has a simple setup: players control a tire rolling on a track by pedaling and switching lanes with the resistance knob against various obstacles. Lanebreak is the culmination of months of experimentation that has seen select users play mini-games in two pilots for two weeks. Music, according to Peloton, serves as the DNA that links regular exercise classes to its new game in an effort to acclimatize novice players. For now, Lanebreak is still in early access mode with a full launch planned for this winter.

The challenge is that there are plenty of fitness game competitors out there in the wild, although few have the brand’s reputation for matching Peloton. Zwift, for example, offers an app with multiplayer cycling and runs in a virtual world that users can interact with using a personal treadmill or bike trainer.
