AHCA announces Krampade / AHCA All-American Scholars

EASTON, Massachusetts (July 30, 2021) -Six of the Stonehill College hockey team were selected by the Krampade / American Hockey Coaches Association (AHCA) as All-American Scholars, as the organization announced this week.

Due to the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic, the AHCA approved revised criteria for this year’s winners. In order for a student-athlete to qualify, he or she must have achieved a 3.6 GPA for each semester, regardless of whether or not the school’s hockey team was able to play this season. This week, the names of 721 men in Division II-III were announced, 43 of whom came home Northeast 10th Conference.

The first prizes were recent graduates, Kyle Woodruff and Jared McCracken, and rising juniors St. John’s Day, Richard Hall, Teddy McElaney, during his classmates Say Bittinger Eater fell to each other.

Bittinger-Esser, who specializes in international business, earned a full average of 4.00 points in the spring semester and 3.77 in the fall. He saw his name in the NE10 Commissioner’s Certificate of Merit, which featured academic excellence in the spring and academic distinction in the fall. He was also appointed to the Dean’s List and Sports Director’s Certificate, bringing his total number four times in two years. This is his second recognition from the AHCA. In his first year, he played in seven matches and collected two assists this season, the first coming against Westfield State University and the second in a conference battle against Assumption University. Silver Spring, a native of Maryland, graduated from Sandy Spring Friends School and played with Skipjacks Hockey Club, the USPHL Premier.

Woodruff, who graduated with a major in Business Marketing, had an average of 3.75 GPAs in the fall and 3.65 GPAs in the spring. He has been named to the NE10 Academic Honor Roll, Athletic Director’s Honor Roll and Dean’s List, as this year he received the NE10 Academic Honor Roll Certificate with the Academic Distinction Award. Last year, he also received the Division II ADA Academic Achievement Award. Auburn from Maube, who was appointed vice captain this year, played 54 games over his four-year career and scored six goals and dropped five assists to 11 points with one blank goal. Woodruff graduated from Brunswick High School, where he played hockey and lacrose and played for the South Shore Kings.

McCracken graduated in May with a degree in marketing from the University of Suffolk after the 2018-19 season. At Suffolk, he was twice nominated for the ACHA All-Academic Team and the Dean’s List. The recent graduate earned a 3.70 GPA in the fall of this year and a 3.93 GPA in the spring, earning the NE10 Academic Honor Roll recognition at the Academic Distinction both times. Last year, he earned the Division II ADA Academic Achievement Award and was named to the Sports Director’s Certificate of Honor and Dean List. In the 2019-20 season, McCracken played 18 games in which he scored two goals and scored four assists to score six points with one winning goal. Hoschton, Georgia, was born at Mill Creek High School, where he played hockey.

Day, who is currently studying marketing, earned 3.92 GPAs in the fall and 3.76 GPAs in the spring semester. The rising junior is a member of Team IMPACT at Stonehill College, which has been named to the Dean’s List, NE10 Academic Honor Roll, and Athletic Director’s Honor Roll several times. The goalkeeper has started and played one game at Skyhawks and left just two goals against 1.86 goals with an average of 31 fights in a 2-2 draw against non-conference opponent Westfield State University. Day spent three years at North Reading High School, where he competed in golf, hockey and baseball and later graduated from Buckingham Browne and Nichols School, where he played hockey and baseball for two years.

Hall, a rising junior studying criminology, earned a 3.86 GPA in the fall and a 3.83 GPA in the spring to earn his first recognition from the AHCA. Defender Hall has been named to the NE10 Academic Honor Roll, Athletic Director’s Honor Roll, and Dean’s List. In his first year, he played in two games, recording one entry point. He is a member of the Stonehill College Anchors program. Hailing from Shelburne, Vermont, Hall graduated from Stanstead College, where he competed in hockey and tennis.

McElaney, who studies business management, averaged 3.62 over two semesters this year. The rising junior played 24 matches as a freshman, scoring his first college goal, a winning game, in a 6-2 win over the University of Southern New Hampshire. He has been named to the Dean’s List, NE10 Academic Honor Roll and Athletic Director’s Honor Roll. Walpole, a native of Massachusetts, attended Walpole High School, where he competed in hockey and baseball and graduated from St. Paul’s School.

The Skyhawks won third Northeast 10th Conference the championship in the 2019-20 season when they won Franklin Pierce University goals 3-1 at the Warrior Ice Arena in Brighton, Massachusetts in early March, while the 2020-21 season was canceled due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Stonehill ended the season with a 13-15-5 overall mark and an 8-6-4 conference record when they started the season with just 1-7-1.
