Hermantown’s Zam Plante is committed to the UMD men’s hockey team

Plante joins the long list of Hawks as bulldogs, including his father Derek, who played for the Bulldogs in the ’90s and is now a federal coach.

HERMANTOWN, Minn. – Hermantown hockey star Zam Plante has announced his oral commitment to the UMD men’s hockey team.

Plante joins a long list of former Hawks as Bulldogs, including currently Darian Gotz, Blake Biondi, Jesse Jacques and most importantly, his father Derek, who played for the Bulldogs in the 90s and is now a federal coach.

Plante jumped to the scene in his first year of study and led the Hawks by 61 points and 29 goals as a sophomore.

Plante is currently playing with the U.S. Hockey U-18 men’s team at the Hlinka Gretzy Cup in the Czech Republic and Slovakia. Plante made the match a winner and added as a pass in the US show game on Saturday against the Czech Republic. Plante and the USA will start the tournament on Monday against Slovakia.
