Two second-half goals soared to the ” Dons Past Indiana State Show

FORT WAYNE, Ind. Two second-half goals were won by the Purdue Fort Wayne women’s soccer team 2-1 from Indiana State Sycamores in an exhibition match on Sunday (August 8) at the Hefner football complex.

Sycamores, a member of the Missouri Valley Conference, rose to early lead and scored a goal in the seventh minute from Maddie Helling’s foot with Jensen Margheim assisting. In the second half, Mastodons quickly rose to the board with a penalty kick from the junior striker Morgan Reitano at address 47^th minute. The scorer was freshman striker Kayla Shebar at 49^th minute with the help of Reitano. Reitano found Shebar near midfield and Shebar was able to create space for a cross goal. The game’s winning goal came in the first match of Shebar’s career.

Sycamores beat Dons 15-13 and scored eight shots to finish for five Dons, but Dons made the most of their chances. Five Mastodon 13 shots and three of five goals came from Shebar. Megan Sinnot and Kailyn Wade each recorded two shots. Purdue’s finish was Fort Wayne Melina Kozachik. When he scored the first goal of the game, he scored seven fights.

The Mastodons will return to action on Saturday, August 14 (7 p.m.) against Goshen College at the Hefner football complex. Saturday’s match is Dons ’second and final show game.
