The Indian men’s hockey team made history last week after winning the German Tokyo Olympics in 2020 to bring in the long-awaited bronze medal, while the women’s hockey team finished fourth and lost the medal with a mustache. After their excellent performance in the Japanese capital, the players from the state returned home to the inspiring reception and festivities set for them at Amritsar.
In honor of their arrival, the Bhangra performers received the hockey players and their family members greeted them in the waiting rooms at Amritsar Airport. Several members of the hockey team plan to visit the Golden Temple, and the men’s team will be honored at the Golden Gate in Amritsar, where more celebrations are planned for them.

Hockey players in particular were also seen sporting similar turbanes and interacting with the media, while some players waved their bronze medals. Meanwhile, Indian men’s hockey team player Gurjant Singh said of his plans for the upcoming games that the team’s confidence is very high and they will start training next month. The hockey team is having a busy year due to the upcoming Commonwealth and Asian Games.
Amritsar district collector Gurpreet Singh Khaira praised the players for having received the medal after 40 years. He further pointed out that it is a matter of pride, and the team will be taken to the Golden Temple, after which the state administration will take them home as part of gestures, ANI reports in the following tweet.

The Indian men’s hockey team made history at the Tokyo Olympics when they ended the country’s 40-year-old medal drought. The team clicked for bronze after winning Germany’s nine goals in the thriller (5-4) on August 5th. However, they lost to Belgium 5-2 in the men’s hockey semi-finals.
