124 players battle for Fusion Tennis title – Sports – The Guardian Nigeria News – Nigeria and World News

More than 124 players have gathered for the Lagos Lawn Tennis Club to compete for honors in the first version of the Fusion Sports Foundation Tennis Summer Clinic / Tournament.

The event, which began on August 9, aims to provide a platform for less privileged but talented young people to showcase their skills. It ends on August 15.

Founder of the Fusion Tennis Foundation, former Nigerian tennis youth champion Fuad Quadri, said the outfit keeps the kids busy and away from the bad during the holidays.

This is the sport that gave me everything in life and it is about creating opportunities for children in Lagos through sport. I grew up on the island of Lagos, in an environment full of crime and everything illegal, but tennis gave me a good life.

We work at the foundation to get as many children as possible to play tennis and sports in general to make a plan for their lives. Those who can play the game are helped to become pros, while the less talented are helped to get scholarships to study in the United States.

Quadri, a former head coach at the United Arab Emirates (Emirates Tennis Academy), said the first three days of the week-long tennis program will be used to train players at the clinic, while the remaining four days include a tournament where technical crews were expected to find talented players for mentoring.
