What happened to the cricket comment?

It’s not fun to listen to cricket comments about the new harvest of West Indian commentators.

If you’re a cricket fan, the option is to either put up with a tense and constant attack on your sensitivity or watch cricket in mute.

A few linguistic gems come to mind:

• We saw him made that
• Fine leg and short leg Is up
• He is good indebted bowler
• A little good length
• The bowler gave him too much clever
• The sensory organ was not in the correct position
• Things have changed since panda

As if these crimes weren’t serious enough, we also have to struggle with a certain Curtley Ambrose voice and hairstyle that doesn’t show up and doesn’t fit the bill. Darren Sammy has commented on television in England Hundred, (how did he get there?), and he speaks repeatedly turn, instead of inner shift. Hell, is that a West Indian thing?

These comments are listened to around the world.

A few questions: who chooses our commentator? What conditions should potential commentators have before they can become commentators and become helpless to helpless listeners? Is an English-speaking institution one of these conditions? Why do almost all of them come from one Caribbean country?

Surely we can do much better, right? I remember listening to comments on our latest series featuring our female cricket, and at least two of the commentators (one of whom happened to be Viv Richards ’son) impressed me. And I thought: the closet is not bare. We butter do better if we just try to look for them.

The quality of cricket comments in West India seems to have deteriorated seems step by step with our cricket standard. Mediocrity has become the standard. As we work to restore our cricket to old standards, perhaps we can also pay attention to the level of our cricket comment.
