NFT collections are becoming more common among sports world names, and some of the biggest hockey names are also included.
Earlier this year, Matthew Tkachuk and Auston Matthews released the collections. Last month, Alex Ovechkin did the same.
Now Wayne Gretzky is the latest to be involved.
On Tuesday, Autograph, an NFT platform launched by NFL legend Tom Brady, dropped Wayne Gretzky’s Premier Access Collection. An NFT, also known as a Non-Fungible Token, is a digital asset that can be bought and sold online and that represents objects such as digital cards or art.
Versions of the signature will be published on 20. August along with NFT’s Preseason Access collection at DraftKings Marketplace along with Upper Deck.
NFT games are a new project for Gretzky, but he sees it as a new way to give fans something that allows them to connect with players and moments through collectibles.
“As long as I can remember, I’ve loved all of hockey, and I’m excited to partner with Autograph to create NFTs that resemble a game I appreciate so much,” Gretzky said. “I was lucky enough to play during such a great era, and I see Autograph NFTs as a new way for superfans and collectors to own and experience these exciting sporting moments.”
The possibility that the Great will work with his legendary teammates could be something we will see in the future.
“I would be excited to do something with my old teammates,” Gretzky said. “There’s still a lot to come in my relationship with Autograph and potential collaborations.”
Gretzky is also on Autograph’s advisory board, which includes sports legends such as Brady, Derek Jeter, Tony Hawk and Naomi Osaka.
The Gretzky collection is available in five colors: charcoal, platinum, emerald, sapphire and ruby, and prices range from $ 25 to $ 1,500. It was important for Gretzky to make sure the NFTs were available to all budget collectors so that as many fans as possible could participate in the release.
“I’ve always been committed to sharing and further developing the game for all hockey fans, and the fact that Autograph makes NFT mode more accessible and streamlined is important to me,” Gretzky said. “I want my NFT products to attract both new and long-term collectors, and the Price Range makes it much easier to approach a large population.”
