Arsenal is seeking an agreement to terminate Willian’s contract before a free transfer to the Brazilian Corinthians Club.
The deal could save Gunners millions of pounds, as the Brazilian midfielder still has two years left with a three-year contract worth more than € 200,000 a week.
William, 33, joined Arsenal from Chelsea with a free transfer last summer.
He has played 25 league matches last season but has not yet played through this season.
Before Arsenal beat Manchester City 5-0 on Saturday, Gunners boss Mikel Arteta said he “didn’t know” why Willian’s time in the club hadn’t been more successful.
Negotiations will continue between Arsenal and Willian representatives before the transfer date on Tuesday.
